Lore

It looks like the blight doesn't exclusively infect the Shrooms, but any plant-based creature as well. This infected Stomping Sycamore doesn't seem to exhibit the same symptoms as the infected Starshrooms. In fact, it seems to have only made the Stomping Sycamore stronger as now its bark as has hardened like steel.

The Stomping Sycamores have no way to purge the blight from their bodies. Even if they're slain, their saplings remain blighted. It may not be harmful to them, but even if we found a cure for the Shrooms, the infected Stomping Sycamores will only continue to reinfect them. Even if they don't want our help, it's our obligation to provide it.

It's up to us to find a cure for the blight to save the Shrooms. They may not take kindly to us, but Shrooms and humans once lived together as equals in the Kingdom of the Shroom. By curing the blight, perhaps humans, Shrooms, and Stomping Sycamores could live in peace in the Mushroom Forest once again.
