Lore

The Kraken is spoken of fondly in Asnelar mythology. The Kraken symbolizes one of the three abyssal evokers of the sea. They say the Kraken is the one which enacts the will of Terul. Next to the World Serpent, the Kraken is one of the most powerful and destructive forces to have spawned from the ocean abyss.

It's said that darkness follows everywhere the Kraken goes. It holds a grasp over the ocean unlike any other creature of the sea. Those that defy the Kraken will be met with thorough brutality. As of recently, the tides of turned in favor of the Kraken. Those that dare represent the sun in the sea will suffer the wrath of the evoker of Terul.

It's easy to write off the Kraken as just another ocean terror. But the Asnelars associate the Deific Mermaid with Vesra and the Kraken with Terul like how we associate the sun and moon with the same deities. To the Asnelars, the Kraken is a god. And it would be foolish for them to undermine the complete authority it has exhibited over the ocean.
