Special behavior

Opens into a random equipment item drawn from nearly the entire pool of level-25+ gear, with a chance for the item to roll a bonus modifier. The standard version gives a modifier about 10% of the time (with Pristine at ~0.5% and Legendary at ~0.1%); the Shiny version raises modifier odds to about 33% (Pristine 2.5%, Legendary 0.5%); and the Lucky version always grants a modifier (Pristine 7.5%, Legendary 2.5%). Shields, tomes, and instruments never receive modifiers. Rare unboxings are announced in chat (server-wide, or game-wide for Legendary), and opening fails if the inventory is full.
